Lottery Rules
Lotteries are one of the most popular gambling activities for all kinds of people across the world. Lottery playing is conducted in all countries and can be government-supervised lotteries or privately run. They are also a popular form of gaming online. There are different kinds of lotteries and the methods of determining winners, ticket prices and amounts of prize awards can vary immensely. However, the fundamental principle of selecting a chance ticket or number or the prediction and selection of results of sporting events remains the same.
There are four basic game structures in lotteries:
Lottery
This is the traditional style of lottery where a set of numbers is selected by or on behalf of the player from a field of numbers ranging from 38 to 60. The winning numbers are drawn either once or twice weekly and if your numbers match all of the winning numbers, you win the jackpot. There are many secondary prizes as well for matching some of the numbers correctly.
Draw lotteries
In draw lotteries you purchase tickets with pre-determined numbers and are drawn only at certain dates of the year. Similarly to the above-mentioned lottery, you will win the jackpot if all your numbers match the ones on the ticket that is pre-selected. Secondary prizes are given for a partial match.
Instant lotteries
With instant tickets you come to know instantly if and how much you have won by scratching a protective security seal off of the ticket revealing the prize amount.
Keno
In Keno you are required to choose four to ten numbers out of a field of seventy. Out of this twenty winning numbers are selected. The more numbers you play, the larger the prizes you can win but the odds also increase. Conversely, by playing less numbers you can increase your odds. In such a case, however, the rewards are also smaller.
